Vedic astrology which is also known as as ancient Indian science explains the motion of the planets and their positions with respect to time and their outcome on mankind and the several other entities on earth. The science of vedic astrology can be traced back thousands of years. Earlier it was only limited to the movement of planets with respect to stars. Later the zodiac signs were included. In reference to the Indian science there exists 27 constellations that are made up of 12 zodiac signs and houses including 9 planets. Each of the houses and planets represents some facet of human life. The distribution of 12 signs among 12 houses and the position of the 9 planets depend on when a person is born. The so called horoscope chart is the pictorial representation of the planets and signs. The ancient Indian science is nothing but understanding the meaning of these arrangements as it relates to humans and other entities on earth. Generally there are three types of Indian science: -
1. Siddhanta (Astronomy)
2. Samitha (Mundane Astrology)
3. Hora (Predictive astrology)
Now the most common question that arises in our mind is that what is the difference between vedic astrology and western astrology. The answer is simply. It is the measurement of zodiac itself. The Indian astrology uses the sidereal zodiac whereas the western astrology uses the tropical zodiac. The western astrology accentuates the emotional nature of the individual and lacks the ability of predicting future cycles and actions. On the other side Indian astrology characterizes the individual’s emotional nature and also understands certain events that are likely to take place. Moreover Indian astrology gives a better explanation of a person’s karmic penchants and when such penchants are likely to evident for that person. These days a lot of western astrologers convert themselves to vedic astrology. Why? Because of its popularity and accuracy in predicting future events.
The ancient Indian literature and science is full of mythology that relates to zodiac signs, constellations and planets that widely explain the astrological rules. Most people think that the mythology was just a method that the ancient astrologers used to give an explanation of some of the most complicated physical laws that were beyond the conception of the common people. Unfortunately even modern science has not been able to fully understand the physical laws behind the ancient method of astrology. The current explanation of ancient Indian science remains in statistics and probability which are the branch of mathematics.
